- Lead a cross-platform newsroom of 25 editors and managers in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment for Cal Poly’s 23,000-student community.
- Oversee digital-first production of up to 20 weekly stories reaching a weekly average of 18,000 page views, ensuring accuracy, clarity and AP style consistency. Oversee Instagram following of over 26,000.
- Collaborate with reporters to develop big-picture story framing, provide copy edits and coach writers through revision to strengthen narrative structure and clarity.
- Operate “breaking-news shift” system: 2 daily shifts Monday-Friday that produces timely and accurate daily stories
- Facilitate leadership workshops and newsroom training to strengthen collaboration and professional development across a 250-member student media organization.
