Newsrooms used to be print- or broadcast-first, and then the industry slowly transitioned into a digital-first model. In Mustang Media Group, we pride ourselves on prioritizing our audience's needs, which often means social media content.
Through audience research and engagement analytics, our viewers consume most of our content through social media. Our instagram page currently has 27K followers and regularly gets more engagement than our website. This academic year, we are gaining 1,000 new followers each month, which proves are content reaches much farther than our campus.
We work on content specifically for socials, like engaging horizontal videos and effective use of stories versus feed posts. We look for faces and voices to better reach the audience, which then entices website engagement.
